Vivian comes from a very traditional Chinese family, with an overbearing father who has high academic expectations for her. Her grades are inconsistent, ranging from excellent to horrible, which strains her relationship with him, while her mother is very aloof and distant from the whole situation.

She plays Tennis, though less out of a love for the sport, and more for the hope that she can make a decent living off of playing it professionally. She cannot see herself working in an office or retail setting in the future.

Smokes and Big are two friends she has known since childhood, whereas her artistically inclined friend Adelaide she has only known for a couple years. She likes to hang out with them, despite their often unscrupulous idea of fun, keeping a safe distance so that she is not caught in the fallout. She tolerates this, simply because it is all in good fun, and not particularly cruel. No usually, anyway.

She is torn in the conflict between Hunter, Kevin, and her two friends, acknowledging the justification of the former, while having an affinity for the latter. For now, she is trying in vain to defuse the conflict now and again.
